Tests - Schools & collegesIntroduction InformationELECTRICAL FIXED WIRING TESTING (EBT) Electrical Buildings Test standards, and the reasons why your premises require an electrical inspection periodically.You are required by law to ensure your buildings electrical systems are installed to safe and correct standards to comply with BS7671 IEE 16th Ed Wiring Regulations. This will be requested by your insurers or local authority, although they like many other authorities have little knowledge of what this entails and will ask you to commission this yourselves. Their are certain points you should be aware off. If you require a entertaiments licence this will be requested directly by your local authority / licence unit / magistrates, and applies to such areas used for entertainment's within your building only, i.e. Stage - Theatre - Dico areas, twelve month periodically inspection will be required - PIR Enquire as to the type of format / paper work and file you will be given on completion, be wary of soley TICK lists as these do not give you understandable answers to the problems that may exist, Poor quality quick check lists leave you not knowing what action needs to be taken in order to comply with HSE and IEE regulations for your school - college. This liability rests with your in house Health & Safety Officer/Representative. The type of file you require will need to be readable by a layman so technical issues raised may be explained to a level you can interpret, in order that appropriate action can be taken. Prioritised information in your file which are (catagorized 1-4 IEE guidelines) will allow you to deal with the more urgent issues first. Other less important issues are recorded for your ONGOING Maintenance. Bare in mind the test file is not there to create more expense and complications for your school - college, but is information to be used by yourselves in order to reduce risk.
